Day 2 saw riders tackling the two Skyline Rotorua stages. Both stages featured freshly cut trail in the natives up top and with the lack of rain (2 days in 3 months) there was no moisture, making for completely blown out sandpit-like conditions.
Some sketchy course routing meant several dangerous features that weren’t meant to be ridden were left in play and ended the day early for a couple of riders and with huge holes forming just below Stage 5’s larches, they could make or break a riders day come Sunday.
